Tips for Healthy Hair

Tips for Healthy HairHair type, texture and density - these traits are hereditary but the actual quality of your hair does not depend solely on your care but also on what you eat. It is important to nourish your hair both from the outside and from the inside. Hair gets damaged by various factors, such as medicines and low-quality hair cosmetics.

What to Eat to Boost Your Hair Health

In order to have beautiful and healthy hair, you need to pay attention to your diet. Your diet should not only be according to your taste but it should also contain vitamins C and B, silicon, iron, sulphur and zinc.

Example of Menu to Boost Your Hair Health:

Breakfast: Freshly squeezed orange juice, quark cakes with raisins, dried apricots or plums.
Lunch: Fresh vegetable salad with herbs and olive oil with lemon juice. Vegetable soup. Beef or lamb or liver or fish with potatoes and vegetables. Drink green tea.
Snack: fresh fruits salad or a mixture of dried fruits with walnuts and wheat sprouts
Dinner: cheese salad, pepper stuffed with ground meat and rice

What to Drink to Boost Your Hair Health

If we want our hair to be healthy, we need to keep a good drinking regime and drink mainly pure water, at best enriched with some herb extracts. Definitely avoid mineral waters and sweetened beverages. In long-term use, mineral waters burden the kidneys and sugar weakens the entire body by making it hyperacid. Moreover, various beverages contain many chemicals which won't do much good for the body anyway.

Do Not Overdo Reshaping Your Hair

Try and do without a curling hair iron, electric curlers, hair straighteners, styling gels and mousses, styling sprays and hair dryers which make hair go brittle and overdried. If you blow-dry your hair, you should do it in the direction of their growth, not the other way around. However, it is best to let your hair dry naturally after washing. It is also good to protect your hair from harmful factors, such as chlorine or sun; wear a protective swimming cap in a swimming pool and a hat if you're in the sun. To protect your hair even better, put some olive oil or special hair oil into the ends before bathing. Permanent wave or decolouring agents may damage both hair and scalp; if you want to use them, follow the instructions meticulously. If your hair is too dry, dye them with natural vegetable colouring agents, such as Henna a other colourants. They do not cover grey hair so well but they are healthier.

Pick a Haircut According to the Moon

If your hair is falling out and doesn't want to grow, take advantage of the Moon effect and check the lunar calendar. The right time to cut your hair comes when the Moon passes through the sign of Leo or Virgo. Get a haircut or a trim every month from February to August on Leo days and you will be surprised how much denser your hair becomes and how it starts to grow again. Do not get your hair cut during the days of Pisces and Cancer.

Beware of Medicine

Some types of medicines influence our hair. Hair becomes more brittle and falling out when using birth control pills, weight-reduction pills, antibiotics, medicine for thyroid gland problems and cortison. Birth control pills may also cause increased sebum production; if your hair gets overly greasy, consult it with your gynaecologist.
