Interest in oatmeal keeps increasing approximately since the 1960s. It the U.S., oatmeal was very popular also in the 1980s. They were most frequently prepared in the form of porridge. In rational diet, they form a basis for various dishes and spreads. They are even added into some alcoholic beverages; they are even used in cosmetics in soaps and body milks on the basis of oats milk. They are also used in medicine and as a seasoning for dogfood.
Most frequently, oatmeal is used to thicken soups, but it is also great for various porridges, stuffings, meatballs, meatloaves, as a coating for frying instead of breadcrumbs; we can also use fried oatmeal for sprinkling instead of cheese. Honey Oatmeal
Ingredients
- 1 cup oatmeal
- 2 tbs honey
- 1 tbs butter
Honey Oatmeal - Preparation
Fry the oatmeal on a Teflon pan until they turn golden. Then, push them away from the centre and melt the butter in the centre. Use the butter to mix in honey and oatmeal. Fry everything quickly so as to prevent the mixture from getting sour. Take it off the fire and let it cool down. We can eat the mixture as it is or add it into a yoghurt, etc. You can also improve the mixture by adding some cinnamon.
Oatmeal Porridge
Ingredients
- 50 g oatmeal
- 0.25 litre water
- 1 tsp butter
- 1 tsp honey

Ingredients
- 3 tbs oatmeal
- 150 g sour cream
- 1 tbs raisins
- 1 tbs chopped nuts
- 1 tbs honey

Ingredients
- 200 g carrot
- 2 tbs oatmeal
- 1 tbs oil
- vegetable or meat broth

Fry the chopped onion on oil and add grated carrot and a pinch of salt to make the carrot release its juice. Pour boiling broth over it and add the oatmeal. Boil everything for 15 minutes.
Such soup is suitable if you are fighting constipation. It contains soluble and non-soluble dietary fibre, vitamins of the groups A and B, calcium, magnesium, iron and zinc.

"Tripe" Oatmeal Soup - Preparation
Fry the oatmeal and the flour on oil, pour the broth over them and mix everything together. Cut the cleaned vegetables into noodles or grate it and boil it shortly in the broth. Mix the heated butter with ground paprika and add them into the soup together with pressed garlic, then boil everything together. Season the soup with marjoram, add salt and serve it with bread.

Ingredients
- 1 medium-sized cauliflower
- 1 egg yolk
- 1.5 tbs butter
- 0.5 tbs vegetable fat
- 0.5 tbs dried yeast

Boil the cauliflower in salty water until it softens. Then remove it and put butter and oatmeal into the cauliflower water and boil them for about 15 minutes. Potato Pancakes with Mushrooms and Oatmeal - Preparation
First, prepare a thick oatmeal porridge. Submerge dried mushrooms into lukewarm water for a little while and then boil them for about 10 minutes. Then put a tablespoon of oil into a pan and use it to fry the chopped onions, then add other vegetables and stew it together until everything softens. Then mix everything together - the porridge, the vegetables, the mushrooms - and add eggs, salt, parsley, pressed garlic, and make little pancakes (5-6 cm in diameter). Then fry them on oil on both sides until they turn golden. Such pancakes are suitable either as an autonomous dish or as a side dish for meat and vegetables.
