This sweet and delicious elderberry liqueur is not only pleasant to taste but it is also very good for our health. It helps in case of spine ache, joint rheumatism and it helps with stomach and intestinal secretion. It has anti-neuralgic effects. One small glass of the elderberry liqueur is to be used daily before going to bed. Elderberries contain sugars, malic acid, tanning agents, pectin, essential oils, vitamins A, B and C and anthocyan colourants.
ELDERBERRY LIQUEUR - RECIPE
• European elderberry - ripe fruits (4-5 kg
• Sugar 2 kg
• Instant coffee - 4 tablespoons or 5 teaspoons of ground coffee
• Rum (or vodka) 1 l
• 2 lemons or citric acid
• 5 pieces of clove
• Water cca 5 l
Elderberry Liqueur - Preparation
Remove stems from the ripe elderberries, wash them, put them in a pot and pour water over them. Make sure the elderberries are submerged. Add sliced lemon or citric acid to taste, clove and make the mixture boil. Keep it boiling for 5 minutes. Strain everything and press the rest of the boiled elderberries through a piece of cloth or a plastic strainer. Add the sugar and the instant coffee (about 4 tablespoons) mixed in a bit of water or a cup of strong Turkish coffee (strained as well). Taste the elderberry liqueur, add more sugar or coffee if necessary and boil everything for 15 more minutes. Stir the mixture to prevent the sugar from burning Let it cool down, add 1 litre of rum or vodka. Pour into clean glass bottles and store in a cool dark place. The elderberry liqueur is best served cooled on ice.
WARNING! Raw elderberries are slightly toxic and they induce nausea upon ingesting larger amounts. After thermal processing, these adverse effects are gone.

Elderberry Fruit Tea
Use when suffering from a cold. Preparation: Pour 250 ml of boiling water over 1 teaspoon of dried fruits. Let it steep for 15 minutes, then strain and drink.
Elderberry Syrup for the Trigeminal I.
1 tablespoon dried elderberries, 6 tablespoons warm water, 10 drops of alcohol. Mix everything and let it infuse for a day. Take 1 tablespoon in the morning and one tablespoon in the evening. In less pain, take only 1 tablespoon in the morning for 2 months.
Elderberry Syrup for the Trigeminal II.
Elderberries (black balls) boil, squeeze, add artificial sweetener and boil for 30 minutes. Then pour into small jars and preserve. We use 1-3 teaspoons daily.
Elderberry Leaf Tea
Cleanses the blood and helps against dropsy. Preparation: Chop 8 leaves and boil them in 250 ml of water for 10 minutes.
