Body Detoxification According to Ayurveda

Body Detoxification According to AyurvedaWe should detoxify our bodies each autumn and each spring. They are periods when the body best rids of toxins, although we should enjoy cleansing days regularly throughout the entire year. Many contemporary diets and cleanses disrupt the balance of our body; on the contrary, Ayurveda strives to renew it. Ayurveda absolutely does not recommend a long detoxification cleanse; maximum cleanse length is 1-3 days. However, it is more suitable to support discharge of toxins with special detox drinks and foods.

Body Detoxification and Cleansing - Why Should You Do It?

Detoxification is a good way to rid yourself of poisonous substances (toxins) settled in your body. Toxins, or AMA as Ayurveda calls them, are one of the main factors causing acute and chronic diseases. Toxins trigger allergies, damage the gastrointestinal wall, slow down the peristalsis and negatively impact some brain functions. We also distinguish mental Ama which settles in the liver and gallbladder; it is generated by suppressed emotions, such as anger, fear, anxiety and nervousness. Poisonous toxins are a by-product of insufficient food digestion, bad food combinations, absorption of unpeeled food or lowered immunity of digestive organs, stomach, spleen and bladder. In the body, toxins act like the enemy. Molecules from undigested food enter the blood, thus triggering an immune reaction. Antibodies bind the Ama particles and this complex settles in various organs where it triggers activation of white blood cells. These blood cells cluster in the affected spot, aiming to destroy the Ama; however, this causes an inflammatory reaction and damage to the tissue by the substances discharged by the white blood cells.

Toxins and Western Medicine

Signs of the presence of toxins in the body according to Western medicine is characterized by high triglycerides, elevated blood sugar, depression, atherosclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, helicobacter pylori, urea in the blood, gout, excess antibodies, white blood cells or platelets, urolithiasis and gallstones, fever, glaucoma, increased liver enzymes, tumours, bacterial infections.
